The RASH

I took the big kids lunch on December 12th, it was a Wednesday. Emaline was a bit quiet, but I really didn't think much about it. She ate her lunch, and was a bit rosy cheeked, but I thought she was chapped. It had been cold. After she ate with me, she went and sat down with her class. A teacher in the cafeteria walked by her and checked her for fever. I was seriously 10 feet away. I was a bit offended by it. But oh well- she was rosy cheeked. Picture on left was taken AT LUNCH.

By the time my sweet dear friend brought her home I knew something was not quite right. Her cheeks were BRIGHT RED! They were very warm to the touch. Nothing else was wrong. Nothing. She looked horrible though. I sent a text to my boss and my co worker that I didn't know what I was dealing with and may not be at work on Thursday. We would just have to wait and see what she looked like.

Then we found it on her legs! OH NO! I sent pictures to my mom and to a few friends asking if it was chicken pox!  They all said it didn't look it.

In the middle of the night, she crawled into our bed, and was burning up! We got her some fever medicine and went back to bed agreeing school wasn't happening. Once we actually got up and turned on the light, we saw this!

HER FACE WAS GLOWING!  GLOWING RED! We decided to take her to the doctor and have this checked out! This is what she looked like at the doctor. We got in at 8:30. As we walked down the hallway at the doctor, everyone stopped and looked at her. I felt horrible for her. HORRIBLE. Our favorite doctor that we didn't get into on this visit, saw her and actually volcalized, OH WOW, what is going on here?

The doctors decided they really didn't know what it was. They went ahead and checked for strep and just about anything else they could think of. They said probably it was a virus, that we were seeing the end of. Kind of like hand foot mouth. She could have gone to school even THAT day. Uh, NO. Do you see her? I would have gotten called every time a new teacher saw her. The doctors told us that it would get worse before it got better. I did ask at what point do I decide enough is enough and was given details when I would need to have her seen again.

When we took Bowden to preschool we ran into SANTA! Santa was not scared of her.

When we got home she wanted to soak her feet.  NO PROBLEM sweet girl.
I started documenting the rash daily. This picture was her feet on Thursday night.

And her legs.
We decided we would see what she looked like on Friday before we decided about school. This is what she looked like!

SO, we kept her home again on Friday, I mean, check out her arm at the bottom of the picture, as well as her face! Daddy brought us some Hot chocolate!
Her legs on Friday morning.

Arms on Friday.
Legs Friday afternoon.

Legs Saturday morning.
Back Saturday morning.

Legs Saturday night. I thought it was getting better but then I realized the redness had just engulfed her entire leg, the only un-rashed part is at the top by her shorts.

It did start getting better. It seemed to last 2 weeks. Poor girl. She never complained OR ITCHED! It didn't ITCH thank the Lord!

Here we are singing Christmas Carols through our elf snow village.

Kindergirl's Graduation

Emaline received the Top Cat award- green all year, Perfect Attendance, AND the PE award. Now, to that Perfect Attendance day..... there is only one day in which I think she should have stayed home. It was the day of the eyes. See pictures at right. Look at her allergy eyes!! To make this day even worse.... and the reason I sent her to school---- IT WAS PICTURE DAY! I thought if the picture was bad, we could do retakes, but I hated for her to miss! Bad mom I know. And her hair does NOT look this cute in the pictures!

Oh Sweet Emaline. You practiced in the mirror and knew your songs so well. I was so proud of you and the girl you are! I just wished that they would have asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, because it changes so much I never know! On Career Day, my sweet girl dressed as a waitress from Chili's. Yes she did! She has also wanted to be a professional gymnast, a vet, and a teacher. I am sure there are many others I can't remember right now.

Last day of School!

\

Oh sweet last day of school. This has been a hard one to see coming. Parker is now a 3rd grader!! WHAT? WHAT? Yep, he is now the kid that would be coming to MY CLASSROOM! For some reason this has effected me. As a third grade teacher for 5 years... I know 3rd grade... and what their sweaty heads smell like after recess, their sweetness, their independence, the realization that girls.... maybe don't have cooties, and they still loved their teacher. NOW MY PARKER IS ONE! He had a great year. He learned much, grew a ton, and is becoming a young man. I just want to freeze time. He LOVES watermelon and blueberries. He is playing soccer, but is itching to take gymnastics- the boy has mastered the one handed round-off! No lie. His silly mommy has this rule about 1 activity at a time, so we will need to wait on the gymnastics thing a bit longer.

Now, this little cutie has almost lost all her teeth in 1 year! Like ALL! Before the top 2 broke through I couldn't even fathom how she ate an apple, but she always wanted one. This year has been not so easy. We had a rough time in the beginning. We had the bullying by a mommy and then a 5th grader. I thought I was being called to home school through these events, but I feel public school is still the way for us right now. Academically the girl rocked kinder! Her reading is fantastic and she even joined her brother in the GATES program. She loves soccer and anything athletic. I have caught her out on the trampoline doing push ups all by herself. She is a little stud and actually likes being referred to as a country girl. We don't have anything lined out for her during the summer, and she is okay with that. She doesn't like popcorn, or squash, or broccoli, but loves tomatoes!

The last day of school we decided to ride our bikes. I would walk sometimes in the afternoon and pick them up with B in the stroller, but riding in the morning was a huge treat! Bowden and I rode the tandem bike. NOW, let me tell you.... I do not like riding bicycles, and I am NOT GOOD AT IT! Like, really NOT GOOD. So this idea sent me into a anxiety wreck. Let me just say, it was our carpool friend's idea, Kimberly and Camille. I couldn't let my kids down. I did a practice run the night before with the tandem with Parker on the back because Bowden had gone to sleep at about 5:30 and sleep through the night, not unusual. So, the practice run was good and a great work out on my thighs with Parker on the back! You put this fireball on the back of the tandem... and well.... Let's just say neither one of actually fell off but there was 1 time we almost went down when a kid passed us on his bicycle on the sidewalk!

One of the reasons it was so difficult... is balance. Remember, I am not a good rider, and I am actually riding one of Stacey's bikes. I don't have one, because, well, I DON'T LIKE IT! So, it isn't a good fit. You put Bowden on the back, and you have a very exciting ride. One of the times I felt uneasy, I asked Bowden what he was doing and he yelled out- NO HANDS! Like that is a good idea when Mommy is pedaling through the school zone! Another time when we had stopped at a cross walk I asked him WHY can't he sit still- His RESPONSE: Mom, I jus doin dis! (Insert a boy acting crazy and trying to trick ride- kind of stand up pedaling). Oh brother. We did make it to school and back without injury, so that is a plus. I let Kimberly do pick up by herself. I am sure the other parents missed our part of the circus after school. I did go look at bikes for me at Wal Mart, and am thinking if I had the right cute bike I might enjoy it a bit better... maybe?

Emaline's Santa Questions

Emaline has these questions for Santa: 1. Who is the oldest reindeer? 2. Does Santa get presents 3. How did you get so fat? 4. How does he get into our chimney without being loud? If you can help us with these answers, we would greatly appreciate it! Thanks, Emaline.

Twas the first DAY OF SCHOOL!

Well, my alarm went off at 6:15. As I laid in bed, Parker and Bowden came bouncing in announcing they were dressed, hair and teeth brushed, and that Parker had dressed Bowden. He said he woke up at 6:00 am.

I woke Emaline up closer to 7. This was here after I said: Good morning Kindergirl!!!

B had to carry his lunch that I made him. He even took it into the kids school. He wanted to eat his lunch about 9 am!

Both kids had good days. Emaline was upset when I picked her up from school. She finally told me that it was because she didn't get to do anything. She said she didn't get to go to PE, she didn't get to go to Art. I asked her if she got to go to Music, and she said yes, but that wasn't good enough. She is funny. She is also upset that I signed her up to bring her lunch all week. She told me that Ms. Peters explained to her how to use the cafeteria and that she was ready! I assured her I knew she was, but I also expect the lines to be longer and I wanted her to have time to eat her lunch. I know, I am mean.

Parker had a great day! Not much on the details, but his class has 4 new students, and he said he made friends with them. This year he isn't with any of his good 'buddies'. That was heartbreaking at meet the teacher. Heartbreaking for me. He seems to be dealing very well with it. I love him and his confidence. I know he will have a great year!

B and I also had a great day!
