Our adventure

Wednesday night, I was cooking dinner when I heard AN AWFUL hollow tree breaking sound come from Parker's room. I immediately got off the phone with Stacey, and RAN into Parker's room to see him sitting on his bed holding his head, mouth wide open (still hadn't made a sound yet, but was in the process) and he began yelling.....I HAVE THE WORST HEADACHE EVER! I WANT TO GO TO SLEEP, I WANT TO GO TO SLEEP! We was just rocking back and worth. I swooped him up and began accessing the situation. It seems my daughter had pushed him while they were standing on his bed, causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards onto his headboard hitting his neck/lower head. His eyes were dilated. I was scared. Emaline was crying. Parker was screaming. AND I really don't know where B was. Isn't that horrible. I really thought Parker was going to throw up all over me. He was screaming and breathing so hard. I finally got him calm. I got him his boo boo mouse thing and he was calming down. I called my mom and informed her I needed nurse Jana, not NANA! She agreed and began to research the situation, but I think Nana came into play and she told me to take him into the ER. Stacey was on his way home, so I thought I would wait until Stacey got home and re access the situation. Stacey drove up and Parker came alive. He walked normal, he held his head up high....I was thinking well what a nice recovery for daddy. SO we went on to prayer group. At prayer group he was fine. Not himself, but fine. He had a very bad evening and night. He wanted me to hold him all night. This isn't him. When he woke up, he had a low grade fever. Since I couldn't take him to preschool, I thought we would investigate this. I took the 2 little ones to school, and P to the pediatrician. She didn't feel a fracture, or a hemo-something, but told me he could have a concussion, and could have head aches for a month. So she wanted to rule out everything. I agreed. Off to CT scan and xray.

Did I mention that when I checked in to the pediatrician I realize my wallet is in the diaper bag at preschool!!! I luckily had some cash in some strange places in my purse, so I could make the copay, and did I mention I could go 5 miles in my car! Yep, out of gas. I don't think I have gone inside to pay cash for gas in 10 years! I am not kidding! I bought 14 dollars of gas and back to preschool to get my wallet. Me, being one who aligns all errands to NOT waste gas, was thinking of all the things I could accomplish with only 1 child, and the oldest at that was planning the next 2 hours before we had to be at the CT scan when Parker informs me that he wants to go home, lay in my bed, and watch his shows. Well, okay. We came home, ate our packed lunches, and then rested 5 minutes. Off to the CT scan and xray. Parker was amazing. The techs kept telling me so. We heard later that both were clear or normal. Perfect! Our first big head trauma, check.

Holy cow - how scary! Ditto the others - glad he's ok! It doesn't surprise me that he did so well at the doctor's - he's such a sweet little grown-up!
